New York Holidays

New York Travel Guide

New York holidays offer incredible entertainment for everyone. The capital of the world, New York brims with famous attractions and fabulous restaurants, shopping, arts, culture, and nightlife. New York remains a hugely popular destination for travellers of all ages, with plenty to do throughout the year.

New York Sightseeing

Tick off all the iconic sights like the Chrysler Building, Times Square, and the Empire State. Take a ferry across to Ellis Island and view NYC from the crown of the Statue of Liberty. Hire a bike and cycle around Central Park. Admire the view from the 'Top of the Rock' observation deck at the Rockefeller Centre. Re-enact your favourite movie scenes at Grand Central Station. Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Head to Chinatown for pork buns and hand-pulled noodles. One thing's for sure - you'll never be short of things to do.

New York Shopping

New York is the birthplace of retail therapy. Go on a spending spree at some of the world's most famous flagships stores on Fifth Avenue. Visit the city's best-known department store - Bloomingdale's - on 59th Street. Hunt out bargains at the Brooklyn Flea Market - the city's go-to destination for vintage knick-knacks, antiques, and street food.

Head off the tourist trail to the neighbourhoods of SoHo and Chelsea for their colourful cupcake cafes and stylish bars, or visit some of the top designer boutiques in the trendy Meatpacking District - where you'll also find the High Line park, built along a disused elevated freight rail line.

New York Arts & Culture

New York has lots of museums and galleries to explore, alongside its Art Deco skyscrapers and iconic structures like the Brooklyn Bridge.

Highlights include the Whitney Museum of American Art in the Meatpacking District, the Guggenheim Museum, and the American Museum of Natural History. Off the beaten track, check out the street art scene in the hip borough of Brooklyn, or visit the Bushwick Collective outdoor street art gallery.

A trip to the Big Apple wouldn't be complete without seeing a show on Broadway, whether it's a long-running classic like The Lion King or an artsy new play.

New York Nightlife

There's something for every kind of night-owl in New York, whether your idea of a perfect night out involves sipping cosmopolitan cocktails whilst listening to live jazz or partying wide-eyed until dusk. You'll find rooftop bars, underground clubs, up-all-night discotheques and underground music venues in abundance.

Getting Around

Yellow cabs and the subway are the quickest means of getting around on New York holidays. For a very special experience, go on a Manhattan helicopter tour, or - if your budget's tight - take a trip on the famous Staten Island ferry for unbeatable views of the New York skyline and the Statue of Liberty.
