Langkawi Travel Guide

Langkawi is an archipelago made up of over 100 magical islands (only 2 of which are inhabited); set off the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia. This thriving beach destination offers a fantastic combination of beautiful resorts and inspiring excursions.

With some of the best diving in the Far East along with traditional landscapes like dense jungle and manicured rice paddies, you don't need to venture far to experience many of Asia’s highlights.

Beaches vary greatly in Langkawi, from vast golden bays filled with water sports to secluded coves with nothing but coconut trees. One thing is guaranteed though; the clear waters are always a hit, even with travellers who usually prefer the pool.

Hotels come in all shapes and sizes with both well-loved international brands and locally-owned hotels situated in equally stunning locations.

Langkawi holidays have long been popular; visitors flock to experience the beautiful beaches, ancient rainforest scenery and luxurious hotels.

Best time to visit Langkawi

Weather in Langkawi

The best time to go to Langkawi is from mid-November until mid-April, which is the driest - and warmest - time of year.

April - August is dubbed mid-season - where you may well see thunderstorms and the occasional downpour (especially in the evenings), although the island will be quieter and hotels often offer reduced rates during this time of year.

September and October see the most rainfall, so are the least popular times to visit - although it's fair to say a lot of the rain happens overnight, so you can still expect 6-7 hours of sunshine a day at this time of year.
